Height 5'9" (176 cm) Tenza is the 10th rank Asaemon in the Yamada Clan. After the shogun sent criminals to Kotaku to find the Elixir of Life, he was chosen as Nurugai's assigned monitor. From youth, Tenza started off on the streets but was eventually picked up by Shion and made into his apprentice in the Yamada Clan. Tenza is energetic and confident. He is a practitioner of bushido, taking in the lesson of continuing on forward no matter what is blocking his way. Tenza is also extremely righteous and does not let his duties as an Asaemon get in the way of doing what is right. He believes that Nurugai is innocent and does not deserve to die on the island. Although righteous he is, Tenza does not think things through, believing that without the elixir he would be able to convince his superiors to turn a blind eye. Tenza has a strong will to protect the people he cares about.
