He is mostly shown as a figure with a golden skull wearing a cape and carrying a scepter. Usually unfazed by his enemies, Ougon Bat stoically confronts his enemies with his innumerable arsenal of powers, such as, but not limited to: super strength; flight; invulnerability; teleportation and omnipresence. Considered by many as the first superhero, Ougon Bat is a famous icon in Japanese culture, having received several incarnations in live action movies, anime, manga and Kamishibai, a traditional form of street theatre where the story is narrated through a stage-like box in which the pictures are shown one by one.
