Goëtz von Berlichingen is a member of the Longinus Dreizehn Orden, occupying Seat VII. An enigmatic man, with a past veiled in mystery and an equally mysterious relationship with Ren Fujii. He is also one of the Three Knights, one of three members of the Black Round Table awarded the honor of becoming an Einherjar under Reinhard Heydrich's command, serving as part of the commanding echelons of the Longinus Dreizehn Orden and an essential piece to the success of their goals.

Göetz von Berlichingen, at the time known as Michael Wittman, was a Nazi soldier and best friend of Lotus Reichhart during WW2. During the battle to determine the final member of the Obsidian Round Table, Michael and Lotus were the two finalists, with Michael killing his friend and becoming victorious. After the battle Mercurius split Lotus's soul into two halves. He combined one half with his own blood to create Zarathustra (Ren Fujii) and fused the other half into Michael, turning him into Machina.
