The protagonist of The Great Ace Attorney, a second year student in English language at Imperial Yumei University, he was put on trial for a murder he did not commit at the beginning of the series.

He traveled to London after successfully defending himself in court where, alongside his new judicial assistant Susato Mikotoba, met and roomed the Great Detective Herlock Sholmes and his daughter, Iris Wilson. He then made his debut as an official defense attorney in the Old Bailey, against the legendary prosecutor Barok Van Zieks.
