Takeru is popular and a fairly intelligent, but lazy student. Despite his laziness, Takeru is the kind of person who won't leave those in trouble or depending on him no matter what. He's called the "Love Nucleus" by Kouzuki-sensei, because of all the bizarre things that happen to him. He spends his days teasing and fighting his childhood friend Sumika, and his other close friends, Mikoto, Kei, Chizuru and Miki. Takeru wakes up to find himself in the room he was in three years ago. Determined to prevent the mistakes of the past world from happening again, he uses his knowledge of the future to change the world, and complete the Alternative IV plan. Originally from a peaceful world, Takeru gets to know this different and cruel world and the people within it, seeing differing ideologies of the people around him, and alien monsters with no ideology. In hopes that he can obtain a future precious for Earth, and his beloved friends and family.

Following "The Day" and the climate disaster that followed it, Takeru is one of the survivors of Operation Iceberg and manages to evacuate Japan. With the world in disarray, Takeru's skills and experience with a TSF gave him unique recognition in the ranks of the Imperial Royal Guard, under Ikaruga Takatsugu.
