It is not exactly clear what Hellfire is, how she came to be or if she is alive, dead or immortal, but it is hinted that she might be immortal like Certa. She looks like Funoire, but Certa thinks, she is just a discarded doll of Funoire who resembles her shadows. He is certain that Hellfire isn't from this world. She, on the other hand, does not know, if she is like the other Ghosts and if Certa is her god, but she can see Ghosts just like him.
