Living most of his life in the sewers of the Scrapyard, Makaku was attacked with a flamethrower and would have died had it not been for Desty Nova's intervention, turning the dying man into a worm like cyborg. With his new body, Makaku gained the ability to hijack other cyborg bodies by jacking into their spinal column. Because of an endorphin addiction, he sought to eat human brains, and thus, a bounty was placed on his head.
