Having slowly started to retrieve his sealed memories, Teito makes it his goal to uncover the truth behind the Raggs War and his own past. As a first step towards this goal, he aims to become a bishop of the Barsburg Church, an institution helping people in need and protecting them from Kors. Although his struggles with his past may make him seem moody and dark at first, Teito is a very bright and kind boy who strives to treat everyone with the love and respect they deserve. Having lived in both the top and the very bottom tiers of the social hierarchy, he is able to deeply empathize with those suffering while maintaining his noble, charming aura. He is very emotional and cries more times than any other character in the series. Although he is deeply self-conscious, he can be confident and calm when he needs to be.

Following Mikage’s death, Teito finds himself in despair but is able to keep going thanks to the assistance of the bishops. He loses the Eye of Michael to Ayanami right before the bishop exam but passes the test, becoming Frau's apprentice. He flees the church to visit the seven God Houses of the empire, following the Father’s footsteps, thus becoming the Pilgrim of Seele. During his long journey, he learns that Pandora’s Box, which contains Verloren’s body, is inside him. His journey is cut short when Ayanami captures him, seals his memories and turns him into a subordinate to try to unlock Pandora’s Box. Teito eventually manages to escape the brainwashing and defeats Ayanami and Landkarte, sending them both to heaven. Having collected all seven tickets, Teito goes through the Land of Seele with Frau, sacrificing himself for the sake of humanity.

His real name is Wahrheit Tiashe Raggs. He is part of both royal families, as his father is a Raggs and his mother is a Barsburg. This makes him a descendant of two ghosts, Vertrag and Ea.
