Carol enters the palace as a candidate for the young emperor's consort to help her parents' financially strapped family. However, as soon as she sees the emperor during a party, she suffers a seizure that causes her body to heat up. Later, an incident brings Carol closer to the emperor, but he seems to harbour a secret grudge against her. They are supposed to be enemies, but they can't resist the sweet heat - a stimulating otherworldly back-alley love story.
